Now that there are only a few days left until Microsoft goes official with its latest operating system, the already famous Windows 7, a flood of announcements are invading the market, the most important computer manufacturers and integrators letting users know that their systems are either ready to work with this OS or even that they've got some touch-enabled products up for sale.
And while we talked about
Toshiba's special touch-enabled offerings for Windows 7 yesterday, it's now about time to take a look at its more “mundane” notebooks, most of which are ready and willing to run the next-gen OS from Microsoft.
So, from its Satellite family, the Japanese company is pointing out the 13.3-inch Satellite U500 series, available in four color finishes and starting at $698.99 MSRP, as well as the multimedia-oriented 14-inch Satellite M500 series, which starts at $699.99
(touch-enabled models are available for both of these families).
Users who want to take multimedia and home entertainment at a higher level can opt for the Satellite A500 series, which features a 16-inch diagonal widescreen HD Edge-to-Edge display on select models, harman/kardon speakers, optional Blu-ray disc players and Fusion Finish and high capacity hard drives, with pricing starting at 589.99 MSRP.
Windows 7 will also be available on desktop-replacement models, such as the Satellite P500 series, which feature 18.4-diagonal widescreen HD TruBrite displays, sleek slot-loading DVD drives and Edge-to-Edge displays, as well as Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion II processors. Pricing for these devices starts at $799.99 MSRP.
Toshiba will also be offering some
value Satellite series models (the L500 series, to be precise), which are available with a 14-, 15.6-, 16- and 17.3-inch diagonal display sizes and come equipped with processor options from Intel and AMD, including the new Turion II and Athlon II, hard drives ranging from 250GB to 500GB. Starting prices range from $504.99 to $579.99 MSRP.
Also to include Windows 7 Home Premium are Toshiba’s recently announced ultra-thin Satellite T100 Series laptops (starting at $449.99 MSRP), which offer the performance, flexibility and functionality of a standard-sized laptop.
As expected, all of the notebooks mentioned above will be available via Toshiba's retail channels starting with October 22, which, more or less “coincidentally,” is also the date when the new operating system from Microsoft becomes official.
