"Hey, don't put your fingers on the LCD. Don't touch that screen. Yes, dad!". Well that was like some years ago when touch sensitive technology was merely seen in show rooms and such, when one had to always keep his/her hands off the screens. Not any more, however, since, as technology evolved, companies started using touch screens more and more.

I always thought there are way too many buttons on a compact camera. Compact cameras should be kept as minimal as posible. Not being the first one that implements a touch sensitive LCD, the E1250TW from General Electric goes as minimal as one might wish. Only keeping the power, play and zoom buttons, you get a button-free camera back that only displays a 3.0-inch touch panel LCD. Intuitivity just got better. The interface is so user-friendly that you almost won`t need to read the user manual. The intuitive on-screen icons make for easy camera operating.

Using a 12.2-megapixel sensor you are clearly able of producing images that you can print. No mechanical image stabilization is implemented in this little camera. It compensates for that using software to automatically push the ISO higher in low light condition to get a faster shutter speed. That's what they call EIS, short for Electronic Image Stabilizer, also seen in some old Fuji bridge cameras.

Other tech specs say that it has a 5x optical zoom on a GE-branded lens that starts at a wideangle length of 28mm. The pictures are framed only on the LCD as it has no optical viewfinder, but at least they included an Auto Adjust Brightness function for different ambient light conditions. ISO values start from 80 and go up to an equivalent of 1600.

Blink detection and smile detection were built-in to further help you get the best pictures with your loved ones. Blink detection quickly alerts you if someone in the pictures had their eyes closed. Smile detection can automatically trigger the shutter to catch that exact moment when someone smiles. Besides the full auto mode, it includes an Auto Scene Detection for scene type recognition and automated scene selecting from the twelve scene modes. The MSRP for this camera is $199

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
