Just like I was expecting, the implementation of various electronic devices onto goggles has already extended, and now the Zeal Optics Transcend has just been introduced to the market. The Transcend is the result from the collaboration between Zeal Optics and Recon Instruments to deliver a pair of goggles said to have the world's first direct-to-eye-communications display.
Actually, these are a pair of goggles that pack a very vast array of features, normally found on GPS units. Even though it would have been very cool to have the display shown on the visor of the goggles, users will find out disappointingly that the Transcend only packs an HDM module built-in.
Along the capabilities it offers to customers, we can find speed and altitude information, as well as temperature. Even more, the vertical odometer will ensure accurate feedback of how much the rider went down, properly speaking. Other features include stopwatch with chronos mode, time, permanent anti-fog and a helmet-compatible design. Thanks to such a piece of gear, riders can now have accurate feedback over their ride, as well as take advantage of various GPS capabilities, like the one of tracking a friend or sending a help call.
The only off-topic thing I need to say is the naming of this product, Transcend, happening to be the name of another manufacturer – wonder whether this would lead to any lawsuit, as those seem to be quite trendy nowadays. As for the goggles, they are available with two lens options - the SPPX xtreme low light photochromatic and polarized lens, summing a $450 model, or the SPX polarized non-fog lens for the $350 variant. Last, but definitely not least, I will let you enjoy the presentation video that has more to say about the product than I could.
