Since summer is already here, a lot of people are making preparations for the holidays (with quick getaways to some beach resort as an important part of their plans), but in order for them to look their best while hitting the beaches, some of them have to go through serious skin treatments. And this is exactly what Hammacher Schlemmer is offering with its new “Dermatologist's Phototherapy System,” a home medical device that will have really beneficial effects on one's skin.
So, according to the manufacturer, this device uses the same phototherapy treatment developed by dermatologists to reduce skin blemishes and does so by administering safe 420 nanometer blue and 660 nanometer red UV-light (found naturally in the Sun) to improve skin health without prescription drugs.
The reason why this thing uses blue light is a fairly simple one, proven both scientifically and in real-life. Hence, both red and blue lights have very good effects on the health of one's skin, managing to eliminate the P acne bacteria, which is one of the main causes of acne, the most encountered (and hated) skin disorder.
The gadget from Hammacher Schlemmer is extremely easy to use, since all you'll ever have to do is simply place it against your skin and switch it on, the apparatus delivering the phototherapy for three minutes. Moreover, the “Dermatologist's Phototherapy System” is very easy to carry around, not only because it measures 7 x 2.25 inches and weighs just 5 ounces, but also because it is powered by a rechargeable battery, able to deliver up to nine treatments (three minutes each) on a single charge (eight hours recharge time).
As for pricing, the “Dermatologist's Phototherapy System” from Hammacher Schlemmer is obviously not exactly cheap, the device selling for somewhere in the vicinity of 200 US dollars. However, if it really works as advertised, then it's worth the money, especially for those people who care a lot about their looks.
