You might not know this, my friends, but processor making is not something that only AMD and Intel are good at. There are also a few companies such as
VIA that seek to affirm themselves on the processor market. Speaking of VIA, it has recently introduced a totally new chipset to the populace, entitled VN1000, and let me tell you, folks, it is indeed something to look at, especially if you're the kind of guy that flies coach.
It seems that future less expensive
Windows 7 enabled all-in-one computers will be sporting the new VN1000 chipset due to its not so modest performance. The chipset comes with an integrated Chrome 520 GPU that can handle DirectX 10.1 and BD media, and is compatible with VIA's Nano, C7, C7-M and Eden processors. It also supports up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, has five PCI slots and can be outfitted with up to four SATA II Drives.
Other options include a multicard reader, as well as 12 USB 2.0 ports. Quite an interesting idea, right? Especially considering the fact that the computers soon to be outfitted with the chipset will cost a lot less than Intel or AMD chipset-using rigs. Besides that, they are also very efficient in terms of power consumption. Quite an interesting gimmick, don't you think? I know I do, and I am looking forward to seeing future low-end computers get outfitted with this new chipset.
“The VIA VN1000 leverages our optimized VIA Nano 3000 Series processors, creating the most balanced, power-efficient, multimedia-focused desktop platform on the market today,” said Richard Brown, VP International Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. “Supporting the latest system memory, graphics and entertainment standards, the VIA VN1000 takes the VIA processor platform to new heights of power-efficient visual sophistication.”
