You know, something that people will never probably get enough of is storage space. Whether we're talking NAS,
portable hard drives, flash storage or any other kind of storage offering medium, storage is something we all need in larger amounts and we'll probably always need it. When a new competitor enters the market of portable hard drives, we cannot but be glad, right?
With the introduction out of the way, let me introduce the latest line of Verbatim portables: the new SureFire FW800/USB2 HDD line. Over 40 years... can you believe that's how long Verbatim has been playing the storage game? 40 long years and a long line of diskettes, CDs, DVDs or hard drives and now it is announcing its latest Firewire 800 slash USB 2.0 portable hard drives.
These babies work with both Windows and Mac and come equipped with both a USB 2.0 port, as well as a FireWire one for better transfer rates. They feature a black aluminum-extruded case that has a matte finish (you know, so you don't get them nasty fingerprints all over your gorgeous Verbatim SureFire
portable drive). The drive has a 5400rpm spindle speed and its 8MB of cache memory guarantees it will not break down when you need it most.
Should you decide to go for the 250GB version, you'll have to pay about 109.99 USD, while the 320GB version is worth about 139 USD. The 500GB drive is priced at 179.99 USD. Quite affordable, considering the fact that they seem to be pretty good, spec-wise. And the compatibility with both the Mac Time Machine and any PC back-up application is definitely a bonus. And besides, it's Verbatim. These guys wrote pages in the history of storage.
