Viking Modular Intros New Line of SAS Enterprise Level SSDs

High performance computing systems have some very special hardware requirements, Viking Modular designing a whole new line of enterprise class SAS SSDs, specially built for being deployed in such environments.

Available in sizes ranging from 50GB to 400GB these new 2.5-inch drives are capable of using both SLC and MLC NAND flash cells, Viking promising upstanding performance and improved data protection while also offering dual SAS 6GB ports for higher availability. 

However, SLC based drives will be limited to 200GB storage space, only MLC\Enterprise MLC flash solutions being available in 400GB solutions.

“At Viking Modular, our goal is to continue to bring valuable products to market that exceed OEM expectations and that solve real-life problems for data center IT managers,” said Adrian Proctor, Vice President of Marketing at Viking Modular.

“Comprehensive and exhaustive design verification and production tests have proven that the Element SSD delivers the highest levels of quality, environmental ruggedness and endurance available on the market today, while enabling performance-per-dollar leadership.”

This new drives will be available to OEMs in a short while, Viking offering a complete solution including package and firmware customization, although, at this point, no informations regarding the manufacturers that will use Viking's new enterprise SSD solutions are available.
