The market has been flooded over the recent couple of months by a huge number of ultra-slim, ultra-portable computing systems, most of which deliver more or less the same functions, despite some notable differences as far as their form factors are concerned. So, we've got netbooks, CULV-based ultra-thin notebooks, smartphones (including the iPhone in this category), MIDs, PDAs, Pocket PCs, Tablet Pcs... in other words, a huge range of choices.
However, the guys over at BlueRadios have come up with a fairly peculiar offering, which they believe to be able to successfully replace any or all of the different devices mentioned above, namely the WiPC, which they describe as a wireless mobile broadband device that provides access to Internet-based information and entertainment content, as well as voice, data, and video communications.
The WiPC integrates a high-resolution color liquid crystal micro display, accompanied by magnifying optics and video technologies to create a virtual 15-inch image comparable to a standard notebook display or a large-screen television. Consumers can experience the Internet on the WiPC mobile phone as fully as on PCs, since the device is touted as being able to provide a full PC color image ideal for viewing standard web pages and HD media.
Furthermore, the WiPC apparently packs a rather wide choice of wireless connectivity options, including here 3.5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and allows users to carry out all sorts of activities, including watching TV on the go, navigating, engaging in video conferences and much, much more.
Unfortunately, at least for the time being, the WiPC will not be publicly available, the company providing it just for tier 1 OEM clients or re-sellers that purchase more than 10,000 units. All that remains to be seen is just which company will be bold enough to actually go for such a solution (especially since, let's face it, this isn't exactly the most attractive portable device anyone has ever seen).
