Not the first product of this kind, but indeed the first one built together with the Wireless Power Consortium, a company that assures producers collaborating with them that the technology they build will fit certain standards. Users can rest assured as well that products built with the WPC are going to be useful for a period of time longer than expected.
The wireless charger presented here is called Hug and also doubles as a protective case, for the iPhone, of course, allowing users to charge their favorite mobile phone wirelessly with the help of an additional Charging Pad, also by Case-mate. To me, the Hug seems pretty big for the iPhone's slim and cool design, but I have embedded a video at the end of the article so that you can decide for yourselves.
"The mobile phone is undoubtedly one of the most essential electronic devices to consumers today," said Shashi Reddy, founder and CEO of Case-mate. "And with the availability of the Hug, we're giving iPhone users a new way to easily re-charge – helping them get just a little more convenience and reliability out of the device that they so strongly rely upon each day."
The useful part of these new cases by Case-mate is that any charging pad of theirs is compatible with these new Hug charging suits. Wireless charging is a more eco-friendly solution for keeping your iPhone alive all the time, simply by keeping it on top of a stylish pad. The protective case of the Hug enclosure will not draw more energy from the pad than the iPhone really needs to be fully charged.
For $99.99, users will get a Hug case for their iPhone and one charging pad. Multiple pads can be purchased so that you will have a wireless charger at home, at the office, or anywhere you need one. It is also compatible with the iPhone 3G and 3GS.
