Imperium Inc. has announced the i600 camera that is built specifically for NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection). There is a very big difference between this model and the previous one, which had nine times more parts and was almost double in size.
"This is a breakthrough for our company and a benefit to the industry which lacked an easy to manage,
portable imaging tool for internal damage inspection in the field," said Bob Lasser, president of Imperium. "This powerful, more rugged and lightweight internal defect detection tool can be held effortlessly overhead, making comprehensive NDI examinations easier and more comfortable for the technician."
Although this type of
cameras are being used by NASA, U.S. Navy, Airbus, Boeing, Hexcel and other major companies or institutions, with the i600, Boeing is the first of them all to show interest in the newly produced NDI device and has already confirmed the collaboration with Imperium.
"Boeing recently selected Imperium's Acoustocam i600 with Remote NDI for its plans to develop an innovative damage assessment process to improve operational readiness in the field for the V-22 Osprey," stated Matt Atkinson, support equipment design engineer, Boeing IDS. "With realtime collaboration over a wireless communication network, sharing realtime images and analysis, this technology should provide a tremendous benefit to our fleet support team."
Test Equipment Distributions is the company that will be selling the Acoustocam i600 and, of course, its president, Mike Hamel, is highly enthusiastic about the deal, “As Imperium's newest channel partner, TED is delighted to market the innovative
i600 Acoustocam. This NDI tool offers tremendous value to our customers in aerospace, the armed services and their supply chains."
The camera is not yet available, as shipping starts at the end of February; for more information, you can visit the official site of Imperium Inc. or TED's website.
