Without a doubt, the first thing that will come to most of your minds when hearing about WowWee is the image of a myriad of toy robots, starting with the famous Robosapien and ending with that very life-like Elvis. However, the company is also involved in other fields of technology, as some of you might remember from an announcement made in January this year.

Back then, we were informing you of the fact that WowWee had decided to tackle the field of pico-projectors and thus released the Cinemin line, which included no less than three devices of this type. And now, only seven months after the initial announcement, WowWee has decided to finally open up the pre-order section for one of the most interesting models from the Cinemin family, the Swivel.

The gadget, which really deserves its “pico” moniker, given the fact that it measures 120mm x 52mm x 22mm and weighs around 170 grams, sports a mid-body hinge that allows users to rotate half of the device at a 90-degree angle, thus providing much more installation options and a higher level of versatility.

WowWee's projector uses DLP projection technology by Texas Instruments and attains a maximum resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. Furthermore, it sports a manual focus system and is powered by an LED source, which generates 8 ANSI lumens. Contrast ratio is rated at 1000:1, while the diagonal size of generated images ranges between 15 cm and 1.5 meters.

The tiny projector sports a 0.5w monophonic speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, manual volume control, and is powered by a 3.7V / 1700mAh battery, which provides an estimated functioning life of around 135 minutes after 180 minutes of recharge.

As mentioned right from the start, for the time being, the WowWee Cinemin Swivel pico projector is only available for pre-order, people who are willing to cough up around 350 US dollars for this thing having to wait until early September in order to enjoy it.
