We are continuously being misled, kept in the dark or confused, choose what suits you best, by major companies, like Microsoft. There is talk now about the Xbox 360's 250 GB hard drive, which has been, according to the maker itself, kept exclusive for the Japanese market, without any official announcement of its being released in other parts of the world.
Until recently, when an avid reader of Joystiq named Rodney spotted a commercial that places this 250 GB hard disk
for the Microsoft console in a “soon to be available” state. We have the picture from the Dashboard that proves this state of facts, and the official Microsoft website dedicated to their console and its accessories, which is Xbox 360 250 GB
HDD-free.
This means that the optimists are now seeing the new HDD in their consoles in a much sooner time interval than they have ever dreamt of, hoping even that it will be available as a standalone product, not bundled with special offers, while the pessimists see the empty half of the cup. Meaning that until there is some official news, or perhaps a picture with a price on the official website, there is no telling when exactly it will be available, so hoping for double the storage price is in vain.
This is the typical behavior of major companies that don't know what their consumers want and take random actions when immediate ones could be appreciated a lot more and may turn even more profitable for them. Perhaps there is an echo effect to this news that has traveled the world and reaches Microsoft officials' who are now probably busy with... fixing the image problem that
RRODDed consoles created for their product.
The
Joystiq team says that they have even contacted the software giant regarding this matter but no response has been given yet.
