I don't know how many of you remember that time when arcades were in fashion. Back then, games such as fishing games were really en vogue especially because they tried to simulate the experience using fishing rod-like controllers.
Well, the time of the arcades has passed, with gaming consoles replacing them. There are a lot of fishing and hunting games on consoles such as the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii or Sony Playstation 3 but they don't quite give me the same feeling of immersion as their arcade versions did. Up until now, that is, because there are new tools being manufactured for Xbox 360 fans out there.
Striving to provide “the most realistic hunting and fishing experience” Xbox 360 gamers could ever receive, Griffin International, XS Games and Bass Pro Shops are preparing to launch a fishing pole controller, as well as a rifle controller for their upcoming outdoor sports video games that are currently being developed, namely The Hunt and The Strike. Their aim: trying to recreate fishing and hunting experiences as close to reality as they can.
Justin Royer, Vice President of Marketing and Brands at Griffin International, talked about their idea, “By combining unique fishing pole and rifle peripherals with high-quality, immersive gameplay, The Strike and The Hunt truly capture the thrill of fishing and hunting and the memories and stories that go along with these beloved pastimes [...] As The Strike and The Hunt will appeal to gamers of all types, we think they have the potential to become the next must-have active, social party games.”
Players will be fishing all over the world, including ten North American places or hunting game all through North America's most famous hunting locations. The games are scheduled for the Fall of 2009 and will appear for the Xbox 360, Wii and PC but you should know that the rifle controller is Wii-only.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
