Some of you music-savvy people out there might know about the Yamaha Tenori-on that the company launched back in 2007 as that strange device that added visual perception to music. Also, the device was definitely nothing cheap, as it had a score of $999, taking it actually to the expensive category, come to think about it. Nevertheless, the company probably realized that was way too expensive for most of the target, so just recently, it outed the Tenori-on O.

The Tenori-On is a cross-gadget formed of a MIDI controller, tone generator, sample and an impressive visual interface, and as a main highlight, it is probably the most unique and comprehensive way for users to approach playing and composing music, considering that music composition suddenly becomes a beam of light.

Users just have to paint sounds across the device's 256 LED buttons, for compositing and juggling with samples and beats. As for the technical details of this, as it comprises a couple of devices, these can be categorized by device. First, the sequencer has a note resolution of 96 clocks, with a gate time between 10 and 9990ms, in a range of -5 and +5 octaves, with a settable BPM ranging between 40 and 240 beats per minute.

The tone generator is a AWM2 type, capable of a maximum 32 note polyphony with 239 normal preset voices and 14 drum kits, as well as two processors for effects like any of the ten types of reverb or five types of chorus. I would go on detailing the technical specifications, but I have a slight feeling I have lost many of you on the way, so I will resume to continuing with the built-in stereo speakers putting out 1 watt, the line out via stereo mini phone jack, the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports and the SD Memory card slot, aside from the $699.99 price.
