OK, I get all the “Modding is so cool that I want to do it too” idea but seriously... how about ingenuity, people? There seem to be two trends running around in the modding community nowadays: steampunk-ing anything you can get your hands on or modding a
USB flash drive. Because USB flash drives are extremely easy to mod. I am pretty sure you know what follows. Yup, a steampunk-ed USB flash drive.
I am certain you are wondering why would someone mod yet another USB flash drive and with yet another “original” (is my sarcastic coughing being heard loud and clear?) steampunk motif. Honestly, I have no idea but... but it is.
You twist the outer gear in pure steampunk lipstick style and guess what comes out! Nope... not the latest Chanel Rouge that will make you gadget lovers of the prettier gender instant magnets to us male gadgeteers but... a USB connector.
And when you're not out copying files into your geared up gear of steampunk awesomeness, you can play with it as well thanks to the fact that it also features a few moving parts that will seek to eliminate the boredom in your life. Well, until the girl next door agrees to go out with you, that is!
The steampunk
USB flash drive definitely looks interesting and the connector is perfectly camouflaged and fits pretty well with the casing; unfortunately, it suffers from something that all overused ideas suffer from.
Flash drive modding has been done before, steampunk modding has been done before and I have even seen a few flash drives being steampunk modded as well. The conclusion to my ranting: use your imagination... mod a fork if you have to!
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
