M-Edge have really outdone themselves when building this case for the Amazon Kindle eBook reader. The Guardian case is fully waterproof (up to 1 meter) and also floats, so that users will no longer live in fear of the “water on gadget” effect. I personally don't see myself reading while swimming, since I'm the weird type of fellow who swims using both hands.

“The Guardian is certain to revolutionize the way Kindle owners read. Now, not only can people read by the water without fear, they can read in the water, on the water, and under the water - to one meter anyhow,” says Patrick Mish, CEO of M-Edge Accessories. “They can read in places they wouldn’t dare bring a book, but always wanted to. The Guardian Case provides the solution and is an excellent example of how M-Edge is committed to delivering problem-solving and innovative accessories that meet the needs of readers, no matter where they choose to read.”

If I were to describe the Guardian in a purely objective way, I would tell you that it comes in three different colors, black, red and cobalt blue and will keep the Kindle's head above water thanks to three internal buoyancy chambers. There's also an anti-reflective film that promises to keep the screen visible in bright light conditions. Yeah, too bad the water will make reading impossible. I can also tell you that it retails for $79.99.

Now, I know that a gadget is by definition something without a particular function, but the waterproof accessory right here seems really useless to me. There is no way you would want to read under water or until now you didn't bring your Kindle at the pool because of your (or the gadget's perhaps) fear of water. I stand by my beliefs and consider the M-Edge Guardian one of the most pointless inventions of this sort seen yet. I say yet, because I wouldn't be surprised if someday, someone comes up with the waterproof case for fire extinguishers.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
