When it comes to Android-running tablets there certainly isn't any shortage of models to choose from and ZTE just enriched that list when it announced its new 7-inch contraption, the ZTE Light, that actually boasts quite an elegant design along with some decent specs.
Although you may have never heard of ZTE this isn't its first attempt when it comes down to tablets, not that much time ago the company announcing the
V7 MID that used Nokia's Maemo OS, but this is its first such offering to feature Google's Android mobile operating systems.
That, however, hasn't stopped them from creating what it seems to be an interesting tablet device since it comes with all the features that you may expect from such a gadget, such as WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, GPS navigation, a 3MP camera, as well as a 3.5mm stereo jack and an external SD Slot.
Other additions include a G-sensor and dual band UMTS 2100 MHz/900 MHz GSM support, this
Android 2.1 running tablet also coming with 512 MB RAM memory as well as a 512 MB ROM.
While I can't say much regarding its hardware performance based on these specifications alone, the ROM memory is a bit on the low side since Android 2.1 doesn't allow users to store their apps on the SD memory card limiting them to the built-in memory.
Speaking of the Android operating system, the Chinese company uses a custom interface for its ZTE Light tablet, Android Market access being absent from the feature list.
Unfortunately, we have no word on pricing just yet so is really tough to say if this will be a keeper or not, although I tend to think the ZTE Light will be somewhat cheaper then other 7 inch Android tablet offerings already on the market such as
Samsung's own Galaxy Tab.
