The ZyWAN G9 router here is one destined to be used with field equipment mostly, but it has been fully packed with connectivity options so that
it can be employed in various scenarios. Eurotech has it available on their website, where you will also find the complete list of hardware characteristics and specifications, as I am not sure I'll be able to mention all of them here.
The main role of this router is to allow users to remotely connect to other devices deployed at large distances. ZyWAN G9 can thus save time for any field worker or engineer. But it is also capable of providing a Wi-Fi hotspot of its own, just like any other domestic router. This way, the connection to the
router can be established via wireless, as well as an Ethernet cable or RS232.
It actually runs on Linux, but this is only the subsystem, as it comes with an easy to use, very user-friendly web-based GUI. All configurations can be done via this interface, so that you can adapt the ZyWAN G9 from Eurotech to any desired situation. The manufacturers say that it can be used in public safety, point of sale & kiosks and even SCADA & telemetry fields of activity. The Linux subsystem enables firewalling, DHCP, DNS and NAT.
It comes with three USB 1.1 ports out of which two are adaptable, integrates GPS and also offers three RS232 ports. The ZyWAN G9's rugged design allows for safe outdoor use over long periods of time and has its own automotive PSU. It can connect to cellular networks anywhere around the planet, being compatible with CDMA, EVDO, GSM/GPRS,
3G and iDEN ones.
Eurotech has some pre-set configurations for the ZyWAN G9 router already available and you will have to check the official website for them as well. Via
