Ever since the
world was introduced to Apple's latest concoction, the iPad, we knew that we had to wait until late April in order to get our hands on the most advanced, but at the same time, the most expensive models the company from Cupertino had in store. And sure enough, that was the case, since Apple has quite recently revealed the fact that its Wi-Fi + 3G models are indeed becoming available starting with Friday, April 30, from 5 P.M., via all of the company's retail channels.
As we all know only too well, much like the iPhone before it, the
iPad has generated a huge level of interest both in the US and across the world, resulting in much better sales than originally expected (Apple pushed out so many units that stock shortages actually appeared, leading to a delay in the launch of the international iPad version).
iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models are just 0.5-inch thick and weigh 1.6 pounds—thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook—and deliver up to 10 hours of battery life for surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music, and up to nine hours of surfing the web using a 3G data network. Furthermore, besides providing all of the features the basic Wi-Fi models offer, the 3G-capable ones also dekivers access to that
fantastic $30 unlimited data plan from AT&T.
Apple retail stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to every customer who buys an iPad at the store, helping them customize their new iPad by setting up their email, loading their favorite apps from the App Store, and more. US Apple retail stores are also hosting special iPad workshops to help customers learn more about this magical new product.
However, the extra features will come at a higher price point, since the suggested retail prices are set at $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 32GB, and $829 for the 64GB iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models, respectively.
