iRiver is one of those companies I know of since MP3 players started appearing around these parts, by the time 512MB storage was amazing, and quite expensive, if I remember correctly. Now,
the same company has just outed two new portable players, the T8 that you can see below, and the S100 media player, to your left.
I did mention the T8 first, so I'll start describing that. The T8 is your average, very simple MP3 player, with a decent 4GB storage space that is more than enough. I say that's more than enough by simple logic and mathematics - in four gigabytes, one should be able to store about 400 tracks (I exaggerated a medium file size of 10MB, for highest quality or lengthier tracks) that will allow the user to
listen to music without hearing the same track twice for around 40 hours.
So far, so good, just mind that the battery lifetime is rated for 17 hours of continuous playback. Weighing in at 26g, capable of playing MP3, WMA, OGG, ASF, APE and FLAC, and displaying them on a 1" OLED screen, the iRiver T8, nicknamed Candy Bar, is available now, for approximately $58. Getting to the S100 media player, we can already opt between 4GB and 8GB storage capacity. The display is definitely larger, at 2.8 inches, with a 240 x 320 pixel color resolution.
The S100 embeds FM Radio,
a memory expansion slot for microSD cards, and even 720p video playback capability. Sadly, no battery lifetime mentioned, so do expect it to last quite a while shorter than the T8 for example. Pricing is set at about $106, but let me not forget to mention - both players are available only in Korea, for the moment.
