It sure has been a while since I last wrote about an e-book reader. Well, time to break the ice with an
e-book reader from a pretty well-known company by the name of iRiver. It seems that they have decided to go a different path with their latest Story e-book reading device, namely change its design to make it look like the
Kindle from US-based Amazon. While I am not one to say what looks like what, the Story really makes it hard not to notice the resemblance.
The Story sports a 6-inch display, 3.5mm headphone jack and QWERTY keyboard. It has a pretty slim profile that makes it a very easy to carry device and can read a number of common formats such as EPUB, PDF, raw text and even Office documents. Storage comes in the form of a 2GB SD card. You also get two free book downloads and a folding case too. As for the pricing, well, the device (complete with the free downloads, 2GB SD card and folding case) goes for about 290 USD, or 358.000 KRW, if you're Korean.
I admit I'm one of those persons that just love to read a good book no matter where they are, if time allows it. I have an extensive collection of books on my mobile phone and have thought for quite some time about acquiring an e-book reader but never found one that I liked. Most are either too expensive or cheap and unreliable. While the iRiver Story isn't the handsomest of all, it might be enough to convince a few people such as yours truly to give it a shot.
While the device is supposed to be released internationally, there is no known launch date nor pricing so stay tuned for we will be returning with these details as they become available.
