No matter how much you like solar chargers and how portable you might think they are, you will also love another solution for charging your gadgets on the go. In a truly light and portable power plant way, this PEG (Personal Energy Generator) from nPower attaches itself to your bag or backpack and charges any gadget you want by harnessing the kinetic energy you produce while strolling. So, turn your MP3 player's volume to the max with the old-school “I like to move it” hit so that you have enough battery in your phone to call your friends from the other side of the mountain.

The good thing about the nPower PEG is that it even stores energy for later usage, but what I don't like is the fact that you have to get yours with the corresponding adapter for the brand of gadget you want to charge with it.

So you will pay $149.99 for a PEG with an Adapter Pack for Samsung, for example, but if you want to use it with an iPod, you'll have to get the Apple adapter separately. The USB cable it comes with is used for charging the PEG from a computer.

It is a very good solution for charging your camera, MP3 player, cell phone and about 3,000 different devices from various manufacturers. Just make sure you have the corresponding adapter if the gadget you like to carry with you all the time has a proprietary power connector. It is 9-inch tall and weighs 13 oz..

There is an interesting “competition” on nPower's website in order to get a customized Personal Energy Generator. The words “First Mover” will be engraved on the first 1,000 pre-ordered PEGs. Shipping is only available for the United States at the moment. Via engadget.
